Yangon Thingyan lost its sense of life under the Myanmar Military Junta
Yangon Thingyan, which was particularly crowded during the People's Government, had to be transformed into the Thingyan where soldiers and policemen were at gunpoint under the military army. Today, on the last day of Thingyan, there was silence in other places except the mayor's central pavilion.
Before the coup, the suburbs which were crowded with palm pavilions in the previous years, turned quiet except for a few children and people splashing in the water.
The People's Park “Thingyan Walk”, which is being heavily promoted by the military council, is a bit more crowded than the previous days.
As the normal Thingyan cars did not arrive at the pavilions of the township generals, it was seen that pedestrians’ cars with windows shutdown were being forced to drive under the pavilions.
