UN Special Envoy Noeleen Heyzer and China's Foreign Minister discuss Myanmar issues.
China's state-owned CGTN news agency reported that the UN Special Envoy to Myanmar Ms. Noeleen Heyzer and Mr. Qin Gang had a meeting today in Beijing, China.
China's Foreign Minister Qin Gang has said that it is impossible to solve the Myanmar issue quickly because it is too complicated.
The Chinese foreign minister also said that since China is a neighboring country, it's even more interested in the stability and peace of Myanmar than other countries.
However, when the international community deals with the Myanmar issue, it is necessary to respect Myanmar's sovereignty, he said. He also said that we should build a bridge for all stakeholders in Burmese politics and help for political transformation through political dialogue under the framework of the constitution and law.
He also said that we should recognize ASEAN's efforts on the Myanmar issue and support the implementation of the five ASEAN common agreements. He also said that China is willing to support Ms. Noeleen Heyzer's intervention in Myanmar.
According to the Chinese government news, Ms. Noeleen Heyzer also agreed that Myanmar should take the lead in resolving the Myanmar issue and respect the will of the people.
The United Nations believes that the peace and security of Myanmar must be resolved through political dialogue. The news also reported that Mrs. Noeleen Heyzer expressed her gratitude for China's participation in the Myanmar issue.
