The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has confirmed that it has taken full control of Hsipaw town in northern Shan State in an interview with BBC on Monday.
"Following the clash with the 23rd Infantry Battalion, over 100 prisoners of war have been captured, and, among them, we will be releasing women and children who are family members of the troops. There are more than 50 soldiers among those captured," Spokesperson Lway Yay Oo stated.
On October 13, around 1:00 p.m., the TNLA and its allied forces successfully captured Hsipaw following the capture of the 23rd Infantry Battalion, which was the junta’s last remaining base in the town.
