There are about 3,000 refugees due to the battle in Myawaddy.
According to those who are helping war victims, there are around 3,000 war refugees due to the battle near the village of Mekanel, Myawaddy township, Karen state.
From the first week of April, the military council troops near Mekanel village in Myawati Township,Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) are in the phase of battle.
One of the people who helps war victims in the Mekanel region said that the war refugees are scattered to nearby monasteries, springs and river etc.
"Currently, there are about 400 houses in the monastery. It's not just one school, they are scattered around here. They donated sacks of rice and eight buckets of oil to the only school that can enter because some of the places cannot be entered due to the presence of the PDF and the military army. The sound of heavy weapons can be heard all the time," said a person working to help refugees.
Currently, there are around 1,200 war refugees in the monastery, and the local people from around Mekanel have fled to this monastery as well.
One of the people helping war victims in the Mekanel region said that they saw heavy weapons falling into the monastery.
The Cobra column, which is part of the KNLA joint forces, announced on April 20th that the Air Force of the Military Council carried out three airstrikes with a Russian-made light attack jet YAK-130 on that day.
