The United States hopes that ASEAN countries will take action on the Myanmar military leaders more strictly.

A US government official has said that ASEAN countries are hoping to impose stricter restrictions on Myanmar military leaders.

Reuters reported today that US State Department official Daniel Crichton told reporters before US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's visit to Indonesia.

Anthony Blinken will go to Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' meeting next week, and the Myanmar issue will be discussed as a main topic at that meeting, he said.

The Myanmar army's terrorist attacks have stopped. "We will continue to find ways to increase pressure to get democracy back on track," Daniel Crichtonbring said.

Although ASEAN has banned Burmese military leaders from attending ASEAN leadership meetings, Reuters reports that Thailand has proposed to engage with the Myanmar military leader.

We hope that our friends and partners in ASEAN will continue to downgrade Myanmar's participation in ASEAN Ministerial Conferences.
