Derek Chollet, a consultant to the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the sanctions against Myanmar will be extended.
Derek Chollet told reporters that the United States is determined to increase pressure to make it more difficult for the Myanmar military to obtain fuel for its operations.
He also said that Myanmar is now on its way to becoming one of the leading countries to be failing in Southeast Asia.
Right now, the United States has sanctioned more than 80 people and 30 organizations from Myanmar.
Derek Chollet said that if Russia stops providing weapons to Myanmar's military leaders, it will be a big step to stop Myanmar's conflict attacks.
Derek Chollet also urged Myanmar's military leaders to continue banning them from attending ASEAN summits.
In the coming days, the United States is likely to take further sanctions against individuals and organizations in Myanmar, US State Department Counselor Derek Chollet said at a press conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, on March 21st.
