The National Unity Government (NUG) announced that twenty-thousand-kyat notes are illegal notes.

The National Unity Government and its successor governments have announced that they will not recognize twenty-thousand-kyat notes legally.

The twenty-thousand-kyat banknotes will be printed by the Central Bank under the military council of the illegal coup, it is an illegal banknote announced by the Central Bank of Myanmar under the National Unity Government on this date.



In the statement, the 20,000-kyat notes will not be recognized by the National Unity Government and its successor governments and declared illegal notes. It's also stated that the act of producing twenty-thousand-kyat banknotes is considered an effort by the military council of the illegal coup, which is under pressure from all sides, to increase the funds needed to continue to perpetrate brutal terrorist attacks against the people in Myanmar by starting to print a new type of banknotes.


It is also stated that the printing of a new type of banknote by the illegal coup military council or from a successor organization, or any of its subsidiaries is an illegal act.

The printing of illegal currency notes causing inflation, stealing people's labor and hard-earned savings, and the irrational actions of the illegal military coup have harmed households, and businesses, and will cause more trouble to investors and the people in Myanmar.

On July 23rd, the Central Bank of the illegal coup military council (a terrorist organization) announced a new type of 20,000-kyat banknotes that will be printed from July 31 in 2023.
