Thailand’s King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida led a grand royal barge procession on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok to mark the Kathina robe offering ceremony on October 27. The royal couple traveled nearly 3 nautical miles to the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun), where they presented the traditional Kathina robe—a significant Buddhist donation to monks.
Thai authorities reported that more than 2,200 rowers participated, guiding over 50 boats, including the Royal Barge and a raft carrying the ceremonial robe. This special procession and Kathina robe offering ceremony were held to commemorate the King’s 72nd birthday, celebrated on July 28.
