NUG Representative Office to Renew Passports for Myanmar Nationals in South Korea

The NUG Representative Office has announced that it will renew passports for all Myanmar citizens whose documents have expired while residing in South Korea.

Myanmar citizens are advised not to visit the Military Council’s Myanmar embassy for passport renewals. Instead, they can apply for passport extensions at the NUG representative office, which provides the necessary stamps and numbers for the renewal. This process has been officially accepted by South Korean immigration authorities.

“The NUG representative office stamped my passport, and South Korean immigration approved it for a 2-year extension. So far, it’s been valid for those who wish to remain in Korea. However, to travel abroad, a valid passport is required. Some people have already completed their renewals,” said an individual who visited the NUG office for assistance.

The NUG has emphasized that some Myanmar citizens involved in the ongoing Spring Revolution previously had dealings with the Myanmar Military Council’s embassy. To ensure support for the revolution and avoid contributing to the Military Council, Myanmar citizens in South Korea are encouraged to renew their passports at the NUG representative office, which offers this service at no cost.
