On November 4, U Win Htay, the township education officer of the National Unity Government (NUG) for Kani Township, Sagaing Region, was tragically killed along with his wife and young daughter in their home in Tapone village. According to the Kani Township People's Administration Team, the family was attacked late at night, with evidence suggesting a brutal assault.
"They were found with stab wounds, indicating brutal violence. The entire family was mercilessly killed,” a representative from the Kani Township People’s Defense Team reported.
The attack claimed the lives of U Win Htay, his wife Daw Cheint Cheint Thae, and their three-month-old daughter Shwe Wutyi Hlwa. All three family members were reportedly killed by multiple stab wounds.
"A report on the incident has been submitted to the District Command Office. The district instructed the township People's Security Team to investigate, and township officials are working to uncover the truth.," added the representative.
On October 19, a similar violent incident took place in Chaung Ma (North) village in Kani Township, where a 32-year-old woman was brutally killed. As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in either case.
