Defence Minister U Yee Mon of the National Unity Government (NUG) has called on the junta's military to join forces with the public by aligning whole battalions, divisions, military operation command HQs, or regional command HQs with the NUG and revolutionary forces.
He stated, "Now, the last day of the military dictator has arrived. It’s important to recognise that the notion of the army threatening the union’s disintegration and the idea perpetuated by privileged individuals exploiting the public have been thoroughly defeated. It is the people’s government and revolutionary organisations that are genuinely working to prevent the union’s disintegration."
The minister urged members of the junta's armed forces to cease their loyalty to the military dictator, to instead protect the general public, and to support the people's government and revolutionary organisations before it's too late.
He emphasised, "We are fighting against a system, not individuals. We do not wish for your lives, or those of our revolutionary comrades and the public, to be lost in vain. We do not aim to capture you as prisoners of war on the battlefield. We aim to honour and respect not only your lives but also your dignity."
The Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) soldier community also called on regional commanders, military division chiefs, and commanders of operation commands to reach out to the NUG and Ethnic Resistance Organizations. They urged these leaders to work towards removing military chief Min Aung Hlaing and top generals in order to save the army and secure the future of the country.Additionally, they encouraged them to adhere to civil command in line with democratic standards, focus on their primary defence duties, and work towards reforms for the establishment of a federal army desired by the people.
