The National Unity Government (NUG) has announced that the junta is using the entire country as a human shield to maintain its power. The NUG states that since the conscription law was enacted on February 10, 2024, the junta has been forcibly recruiting young people as human shields. Additionally, the NUG reports that the junta has established a group called the "Public Security and Anti-Terrorism Central Supervision Group," which has compelled individuals aged 35 to 65 into combat roles.
The statement highlights that, amid political, military, diplomatic, and financial setbacks, the junta is employing the population as a means to prolong its control. This crisis of military dictatorship is affecting people across all demographics.
In response to these developments, the NUG is calling on the public to support the People's Spring Revolution. This initiative aims to end the dictatorship and establish a federal democratic system to prevent further exploitation of civilians as human shields.
