New Mon State Party-AD to Take Action Against Military-Formed Public Security Groups

The New Mon State Party-AD has announced that it will take action against members of the public security and anti-terrorism groups formed by Myanmar's military. The military council, labelled as a terrorist organization by the party, is attempting to bolster the strength of these groups, which have been waning.

Naing Banya Mon, spokesperson for the New Mon State Party-AD, made it clear that all those involved in forming these public security groups, including village and ward administrators, will be prosecuted. "We are informing all the people in our active area, especially all members of the administration, not to participate in this work," said Naing Banya Mon.

Currently, the military council is organizing meetings with men between the ages of 35 and 65 nationwide to establish ward and village public security and counter-terrorism groups. It is known that elderly men who join these groups will be required to undergo a month of military training and then fight alongside the army.
