Nearly two thousand civilians are fleeing because of the military council’s column raid in Launglon Township

Residents said that nearly two thousand civilians have fled as the Military Council troops raided villages in Launglon Township, Thanintharyi Division. From August 26 to August 29, the local people are fleeing because of the eighty-strong military council column raid in Tizit, Sanhlan, Gawtinn, and Kyaltaung villages.

Locals living in Launglon Township said that civilians are fleeing to safety as the military council troops are firing heavy weapons at Kyaltaung village today. "This morning, they are trying to enter the Kyaltaung village with heavy weapons. And nearly two thousand people are fleeing. If the columns leave, they will return to the village. Now we are just waiting for the situation."

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), more than seventy thousand (70,200) residents of Thanintharyi were displaced after the military coup.
