National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) has issued a statement regarding flood relief efforts

On September 17, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) released a statement regarding the ongoing flood disasters. The statement mentioned the National Unity Consultative Council’s condolences to those killed and badly affected by the devastating flash floods and landslides.

Additionally, the NUCC stated that they empathize with the public, who are already grappling with the oppression of the military junta and socio-economic hardship, and the added burden of dealing with the dangers of the current natural disasters. The NUCC also expressed that even amidst severe hardships and suffering, they have observed the people's mutual support and steadfast resilience, and thus, they offer their respect and praise to the public with admiration.

Furthermore, the NUCC strongly condemns the terrorist military junta for their continued indiscriminate bombings and killings of civilians, as well as their failure to provide any assistance or rescue efforts during the widespread floods.

Moreover, they encourage people nationwide to remain united and resilient in the face of the military junta's oppression, as well as natural and man-made disasters. Given their legal and moral obligations under international law, the NUCC urges the United Nations, ASEAN, and the international community to not overlook the urgent needs of the Myanmar people, who are facing both war and natural disasters. In addition, they call for immediate cross-border humanitarian assistance in cooperation with the National Unity Government.
