More than a thousand people had to be evacuated due to the flood in Hinthada Township


According to local social aid workers, about 200 homes in the group of Hpyat, Hngetpyawtaw, Hpaungseik, Ohntaw, and Tarngoke villages were flooded, and more than a thousand people were evacuated in Hinthada township, Ayeyarwaddy.


According to social assistance workers, residents have been displaced due to the gradually rising water levels of the Ayeyarwaddy River. "As for the houses, there are many houses that have been buried to the point where they can't live up to the roof. Some houses are completely submerged in water. Some monasteries have to be moved to escape the water." Currently, he said the people affected by the flood have been placed in temporary shelters, and there are difficulties with basic food products such as oil, drinking water, and rice due to transportation difficulties.


According to the measurement on September 12, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced that the water level of the Ayeyarwaddy River is about 8 inches above the critical water level in Hinthada.
