More than 90 foreigners are Among the 3,000 of released prisoners on April 17th, Myanmar New Year’s Day
At least 98 foreigners were among the 3,113 prisoners released on Monday, New Year's Day on April 17th.
According to the statement released on April 17th, the Secretary of the Military Council, Second General Aung Lin Dway, said that for the sake of the relationship between countries and humanitarian acts, 98 foreigners were released.
However, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was sentenced to a long prison term after the military dictatorship, and political prisoners, including President U Win Myint have not been released.
There are still at least 1,746 people in prisons who stood against the military junta in various ways. AAPP, the Association for the Support of Political Prisoners, has announced that at least 324 people have been killed since the military coup.
