Military sources have confirmed to VOA that a helicopter belonging to the Military Council was shot down by the Arakha Army (AA) on November 10 in Ann, Central Rakhine State. This development comes as the AA intensifies its offensive to seize the Western Command Headquarters located in Ann. The situation has escalated into significant clashes between the two sides.
“A Rakhine military observer informed VOA that the incident took place on November 10 and can be verified. The military helicopter arrived yesterday, accompanied by a total of four helicopters. When the first helicopter landed and attempted to take off again, AA forces fired upon it, striking the wing. This impact damaged the propeller, causing the helicopter to go down. It is further confirmed that the helicopter crashed in a specific area.”
The AA has reportedly taken control of the airfield in Ann Township, which had previously allowed Military Council helicopters to land at the football field inside the Western Command Headquarters. These helicopters had been used to transport personnel and weapons. The AA was able to intercept and shoot down the helicopter as it attempted to ascend after delivering supplies.
As of now, the Air Force has not issued an official statement regarding the downing of the military council’s support helicopter.
