On September 24, at around 1:30 a.m., the military launched 500-pound bombs on the No. 2 quarter of Lashio, a town under the control of the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in northern Shan State, specifically targeting the Ya Htaik Hotel and the Fully Light Hotel. The bombing caused some buildings to collapse, injuring nine civilians; however, it is reported that they are not in critical condition.
At around 4:00 a.m. on the same morning, the military again bombed Lashio City, with bombs landing between the No. 2 quarter and the chicken shop road, striking the Lucky Jewelry Shop. Locals reported that one woman was killed in this attack.
The junta’s military had previously launched intense airstrikes on Lashio on August 30 and again on September 9, 10, and 21.
The MNDAA has stated that the military is indiscriminately attacking areas that are not military targets, leading to widespread destruction and loss of life, as well as damage to homes and property, causing widespread fear and panic among the civilian population.
