In the Mandalay and Sagaing Regions, the Myanmar junta bombed several villages on September 1st, resulting in multiple civilian casualties.
At around 7:00 p.m., four bombs were dropped by a junta aircraft on Di Dok Gone Village, Thanatpin Village, and Myingyan Gone Village in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region. The airstrike, which occurred without any preceding conflict, killed three women and one man, and child was left amputated. according to a local resident.
Later that evening, the junta's fighter jet targeted the market of Maung Gone Village in Tigyaing Township, Sagaing Region. One person was killed, and several people were injured during the attack as locals from the Katha region were shopping, and sugarcane farmers were on their way to the sugar factory. The exact number of casualties remains unclear, with bodies reportedly being recovered one by one, according to residents of Tigyaing Township.
Reports indicate that the junta has escalated its airstrikes in recent days, leading to a rise in the deaths of innocent civilians. Both Mandalay and Sagaing Regions are known strongholds of revolutionary forces, and daily clashes with the junta's forces continue.
The increase in airstrikes followed a visit by the junta leader to Hmawbi Air Force Base in Yangon last week, where he emphasized the importance of the air force.
