KNU announced that two people died, including a student due to heavy weapons.
The KNU center announced that on August 2nd and 3rd, two people died, including a student and three others, including a child and an elderly person, were seriously injured in Ledo and Mu townships of the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (3), Kayin.
According to the statement, 16-year-old tenth-grade student Mg Paing Soe Thu and 37-year-old Daw Thida Aye died, and 39-year-old Ma Zin Mar Win and 71-year-old U Tin Oo were seriously injured. At 8:30 a.m. on August 3rd, the 274th Army of the Military Council fired a large weapon from the city of Kyauktaga, Ledo Township exploded in the Thamininnkone village, hit 16-year-old tenth grader Mg Paing Soe Thu’s head and died. And on August 2, at around 3:30 p.m., a large weapon fired by the Mu Township Military Council's KhaMaRa-599 landed on a house in Mwaytwin Village, and 37-year-old Daw Thida Aye died and the three injured were his family members.
According to a statement from the KNU center, villages in the area under their control are being targeted by the military council, and there is almost daily shooting with heavy weapons, after a two-day battle between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Military Council forces in Ledo Township, which started on July 25th, the KNU said on July 28th that the people of 41 villages had to flee to safety because the Military Council forces were constantly firing heavy weapons.
