KNU announced that there is military tension in Ye Township and 15,000 residents are fleeing.
On September 16, the KNU announced that the area under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (6) in Mon State's Ye Township is being reinforced by the Military Council with around 200 forces and that there is military tension, and more than 15,000 civilians are fleeing.
Since September 14, the 2nd Infantry Division and 318th Artillery Division, under the 44th Infantry Division based in Kyaikto. The 1021 Border Guard Battalion under the Southeast Regional Command and nearly 100 troops from the 3rd Border Guard Division attacked the areas where the 16 KNLA battalions were located.
According to a KNU statement, during the battle on that day, a KNLA soldier was killed when the Military Council troops fired on a Mi-35 attack helicopter. On September 15, the 3rd Border Guard Battalion added 100 more soldiers to reinforce the military tension between the two armies.
KNU has released that more than 15,000 residents have fled their homes and are facing difficulties in finding shelter due to continuous rains and rough mountain water flow in Ye Township.
