The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), alongside allied forces, has successfully captured a military council base in Hpapun, Karen State, following an intense three-day battle. The strategic Hkaw Pote camp, located in the 5th Brigade’s territory under the Karen National Union (KNU), fell to KNLA forces on October 30.
This recent victory adds to a series of gains, with the KNLA and joint forces reportedly seizing control of several other military council camps throughout Hpapun. The fall of Hkaw Pote leaves the military council with only about ten remaining camps in the district, including the critical Military Tactic Base.
During the clash, the military council suffered multiple casualties, with ten soldiers killed and five captured alive. Witnesses also reported a number of personnel fleeing the site. KNLA forces have indicated that further offensives are planned, with the objective of establishing complete control over Hpapun District.
