KIA Seizes Eight Warships from the Junta, Set to Destroy Them

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA), in collaboration with People’s Defense Force (PDF) units, have seized eight warships from the junta's forces and plan to destroy them, according to a KIA source.

The source stated, "Four warships were secured near Mya Lal in Bhamo, two at the Shweku upstream bend, and two in Myitkyina. In total, there are eight warships, and they are only for destruction."

On the morning of September 17, KIA and PDF forces engaged seven junta warships that were heading from Shweku to Bhamo, resulting in two ships sinking and four others catching fire. The KIA managed to seize the four damaged ships. Out of the seven warships, only one reached Bhamo, while two more were also captured and destroyed by the KIA in Mya Taung, Tigyaing township.
