KIA Pledges Continued Fight Against Military Council with Allied Revolutionary Groups

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has announced its commitment to continue resisting Myanmar’s military council alongside revolutionary groups.

Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) President, General N Ban La, affirmed his resolve to collaborate with all revolutionary organizations dedicated to eradicating military dictatorship.

The KIO Central Committee has launched the “Ru Nu Dan Majan Missing” (Main Eradication Operation), aimed at taking back and securing areas previously under military control, according to the general.

General N Ban La made these remarks during the 64th anniversary of the Kachin Independence Organization, celebrated on October 25.

He stated that the current period presents a strong opportunity for the Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs) and People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) to unify in the fight against dictatorship. He emphasized that this movement is a “great revolution supported by the people,” adding that military dictatorship “must fail.”

The general also cautioned people’s militia groups aligned with the military council, urging them to abandon support for the regime and join forces with the KIO.

General N Ban La noted that initiatives are underway to repatriate and rehabilitate internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have been forced to flee due to conflict.

He expressed appreciation for the frontline troops and their achievements, highlighting their role in the organization’s ongoing efforts.

The Kachin Independence Organization was founded on October 25, 1960, with the Kachin Independence Council (KIC) established shortly after, on January 15, 1961. The armed wing of the KIO, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), was officially formed on February 5, 1961.
