On the afternoon of November 4, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces seized control of Kan Phant village, a strategic village on the Chinese-Kachin border, northeast of Hpimaw in Kachin Special Region 1. During the operation, over 100 members of the junta-affiliated militia surrendered without resistance, relinquishing their weapons to the KIA forces.

As the KIA joint forces entered the village, they were met with a warm welcome from local residents, expressing their support for the joint forces. According to reports, the surrendered militia are currently undergoing inspection by KIA forces.

A KIA military source stated, “On the evening of November 4, KIA joint forces entered and took control of Kan Phant village, northeast of Hpimaw along the Chinese-Kachin border. Civilians appear to have encouraged the militia’s surrender, resulting in over 100 disarming without resistance. The local community warmly welcomed KIA forces. With no combat occurring in Kan Phant, the only remaining area to secure is Lang Sal, and once that is captured, Kan Paik Ti will be the final area left in the region.”
