The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) successfully attacked and captured the 437th Light Infantry Battalion of the Myanmar military outside Momauk, Kachin State.
According to KIA military sources, more than 400 soldiers were killed during the assault. A tank was also seized, along with a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition, though the exact number of seized items is still being tallied.
The 437th Battalion, reportedly comprising around 500 personnel, was engaged in a fierce defense but ultimately fell to the KIA forces. Following the capture of the battalion, KIA forces continued to pursue and attack fleeing soldiers.
KIA sources indicated that over 200 soldiers were confirmed killed in the initial attack, with the total number of dead and wounded exceeding 400.
