Kalaw, a popular mountain resort town in Southern Shan State, has suffered significant damage due to flooding caused by Typhoon Yagi. Damaged buildings and ongoing clean-up efforts have been reported.
Footage shared on social media shows water receding, leaving mud inside homes. According to the statistics obtained as of September 19, the Natural Disaster Management Committee reported that 293 people have died nationwide, with 89 still missing. The number of missing persons is expected to rise, with several relief workers among the dead.
