Junta Launches Aerial Attack on Hsipaw Town, Killed 2 Civilians and Burned Fuel Tank

The coup army conducted an aerial attack on Hsipaw, Shan State, on August 18, killing two people and setting fire to a fuel storage tank, according to a statement by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

Reports indicate that two men were killed in the bombardment near the No. 23 Infantry Regiment base in Hsipaw, with another explosion occurring in Nanmon Ward. On August 19, after 11:00 a.m., a large weapon fired by the military struck a fuel storage tank belonging to AAA in Kyauksu Ward, igniting a fire. The Hsipaw City Fire Department, with the help of local residents, managed to extinguish the blaze in time.

Additionally, on August 16, an aerial bombardment by the military in Nanlan Village, Hsipaw, injured one woman and damaged two houses.

The TNLA reports that between August 1 and 19, the military’s airstrikes in Hsipaw have targeted civilians, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to 42 others.
