Increased five thousand more war refugees in Nyaunglypin within a week.

■ Karen National Union (KNU) spokesperson Pado Saw Taw Nee said in a media interview that the number of war refugees increased by 5,000 during the last week of October due to heavy weapons shooting and fighting in Nyaunglypin District, eastern Bago Region. "In the last week of October in Mone Township, Brigade 3 Nyaunglypin District, the number of IDPs fleeing the war in Mone Township has increased to 5,000 again due to the firing of heavy weapons by the military council.”


KNU announced on October 30 that more than 2,000 residents of five villages have fled to safety due to the fighting and gunfire that took place in Mone Township, Nyaunlaypin District on October 28 and that they are in urgent need of food and medicine. They said that on October 20, more than 400 residents of Mone had to flee due to heavy weapons fire by the Military Council.

According to the statement of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) on October 2, due to the conflict after the coup, there have been nearly 130,000 (126,900) people who have fled their homes in the eastern part of Bago.
