In May, the military council killed 29 women, and 14 of them were burned alive
The Myanmar Women's Union (BWU) announced that the military council killed 29 women in May, and 14 of them were burned to death.
In the statement issued on June 2, 2023, the number of women arrested and killed in May has also increased.
Of the 29 women who died, 14 were burned to death by the military council troops during raids on their homes, and 8 were killed in bombings by the military council air force. Out of the rest, 6 women were shot dead by the soldiers of the military council, and the remaining 1 was killed by a bullet from the military council.
During the month of May, there were 44 women arrested by the Military Terrorism Council, with 13 in Mandalay being the highest, and 10 in Thanintharyi being the second highest.
From the beginning of the February 2021 coup to 2023 May 29, the Military Terrorist Council arrested 3,517 women and killed 542, according to the statement.
