On July 25th, two villagers from Tharakhong village were killed and one was injured in an assault by the coup army and the local pro-military Pyu Sawhtee joint column.
The following day, July 26th, a Pyu Sawhtee group led by Wasthava, along with military council soldiers, entered the village after dropping bombs by drone. The attack led to the burning of 60 houses, and the forces temporarily occupied the area.
The coup army then moved from Tharakhong village to Shan Tat village, where they burned down 100 houses. Their rampage continued through Su Poup Gone village, Bote Kone Gone village, Min Gone village, and Nyaung Binthar village, resulting in the destruction of over 300 houses in total.
During this period, about two clashes occurred between the coup column and local defense forces. The 250-member joint column has been deployed in five villages near Tharakhong Village. According to local defense forces, residents from 10 villages are fleeing the conflict and facing significant food and health challenges due to the ongoing attacks.
