Five interfaith networks called for speeding up the revolution on the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising.
On the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, the five interfaith networks called for the revolutionary forces, including NUG, NUCC, NLD, and ethnic revolutionary organizations, to unite and speed up the revolution without making the people and the soldiers of the uprising pay in vain.
In this statement, the National Unity Government (NUG) has declared this year as the "decisive year of the final battle" and is responsible for it and encourages strategic action along with accountability. In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, the Spring Revolution Interfaith Network, Spring Revolution Sangha Network, Sangha Union (Mandalay), Spring Revolution Myanmar Muslim Network, and Burmese Muslim revolutionary forces are urging such a statement.
The statement also stated that the military council must release all political prisoners, including President U Win Myint and State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, as soon as possible without exception. Spring Revolution Networks are calling for the international community, including the United Nations Security Council, to recognize the National Unity Government (NUG) as soon as possible and more physical aid.
It is also stated that we will fully encourage and support the forces that are fighting the revolution from all sides for the fastest eradication of the military dictatorship and the construction of a future federal democratic union, and we will cooperate with the spirit of the 8888 Uprising. The 35th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising Day ceremony was held online by the NLD party, attended by the National Unity Government NUG, the revolutionary groups including NUCC, and sent messages.
The Interim President (Acting President) Duwa Lashia La said at the event that he would not break the will of all those who have tried for democracy and not break down in the eradication of the military dictatorship but would not cut off his cooperation with the public and continue marching until the people's revolution succeeds.
Dr. May Win Myint, a member of the central executive of the NLD party, said that the National League for Democracy is a party born through the 8888 democratic uprising, and has made a firm decision to always stand with the people for the benefit of the people.
