The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) successfully captured two strategic military bases in Hpapun District, Karen State, during operations carried out on December 3 and 4.
The bases, identified as Sin Swe and Taung Thone Lone, were seized following intense clashes with junta forces. The KNLA reported capturing over 40 firearms and taking 36 junta soldiers as prisoners of war during the engagements.
These bases were regarded as critical to the Myanmar militaryโs control of transportation routes in the region. Their loss is expected to significantly disrupt junta supply lines and strengthen the resistance movement in Karen State.
The KNLA and its allies have been actively targeting junta positions in the area, including the Kuseik, Khaw Pote, and Mathaw bases. While resistance forces have achieved notable successes, both sides have suffered casualties in the ongoing conflict.
