The Myanmar military junta has released four Thai fishermen who were detained after their fishing boat entered Myanmar waters. However, the fate of 27 Myanmar workers who were also on board remains unknown, raising concerns about the unequal treatment of foreign workers.

The Thai fishermen were released on December 5th after intense diplomatic pressure from the Thai government. Thai authorities summoned the Myanmar ambassador to express their concerns and demand the immediate release of their citizens.

While Thailand has been vocal about the plight of its citizens, the Myanmar workers have been largely ignored. Human rights organizations and labor activists have criticized the lack of attention given to the Myanmar workers and have called for their immediate release.

The incident highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Myanmar and the increasing tension between the military junta and its neighbors. As the conflict continues, civilians, including migrant workers, are bearing the brunt of the violence and instability.

It remains unclear what will happen to the detained Myanmar workers. Their families are anxiously awaiting news about their loved ones, fearing the worst.

The international community has urged the Myanmar military junta to respect human rights and release all detainees. However, with the junta showing no signs of relenting, the future remains uncertain for the detained.
