Kachin singer and pro-democracy activist Mun Awng will perform at "The Night in Melbourne" on February 15, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM at The Castle, 61 Princes Hwy, Dandenong.

Born in Myitkyina, Kachin State, Mun Awng rose to fame in the 1980s but fled Myanmar in 1993 due to his involvement in the 1988 pro-democracy protests. He later settled in Norway, working with the Democratic Voice of Burma broadcaster.

After returning briefly to Myanmar in 2015, Mun Awng renewed his activism following the 2021 military coup. In 2022, he held a solo concert supporting the Spring Revolution and Myanmarโ€™s armed resistance.

His Melbourne performance continues his legacy of blending music with advocacy for democracy and human rights.โฉ
