Eight people died; 232 houses were destroyed by a tornado in Laeway
A tornado struck Laeway Township in Nay Pyi Taw, at 6:10 PM on April 21st, destroying 232 houses in the villages of Aung Myay Gone and Tadaoo village, and killing eight people.
Dolaeway Charity Association said that 128 injured people had to be sent to 100-bed and 1,000-bed public hospitals. Among them, on April 22, two more people died and there were people who were discharged from the hospital.
Those who died when the tornado struck were 35-year-old U Tun Win, 30 years old Ko Kyaw Swar Myint, 35-year-old Daw Mar Mar Soe, 65-year-old Daw Tin Mya, 60-year-old Daw Kyi and 70-year-old U Mya Aung.
Locals also said that 155 houses in the village of Aung Myay Gone and 77 houses in the village of Tadaoo were damaged due to the tornado that lasted for around 40 minutes.
Locals said that the two villages that were damaged have been cleared and are being repaired.
According to the military council's report on April 21st, 155 houses in Aung Myay Gone village and 77 houses in Tadaoo village were damaged due to the tornado, and 37 male and 72 female who were injured, a total of 109 people, have been transported to public hospitals for treatment.
