Reports from the conflict zones along the border of Karenni State and Shan State indicate that the Terrorist Military Council has conducted drone strikes involving chemical weapons, according to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF).

On December 7 and 8, 2024, the 422nd Light Infantry Battalion, stationed outside Mobye, reportedly launched drone attacks targeting Mobye and its surrounding areas. The KNDF claims that 560 S-PHOS (S-Phos) gas plates were deployed during these strikes.

Witnesses reported that thick smoke emanated from the bombed areas, causing severe physical symptoms among KNDF members, including dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and muscle weakness. While no direct injuries from the explosions were recorded, the symptoms strongly suggest exposure to chemical agents. Post-attack investigations confirmed the presence of S-PHOS gas residue at the targeted sites.

In response to the attacks, the KNDF has issued a public safety advisory urging civilians to take the following precautions:

- Stay alert for drones hovering in the area.

- Avoid approaching any recently bombed or suspicious locations.

- Seek immediate shelter if drones are observed nearby.

Clashes between the military councilโ€™s forces and revolutionary groups reportedly continue along the Pekon-Mobye-Loikaw road. The alleged use of chemical agents has introduced a heightened level of danger to the conflict, raising concerns over the escalation of hostilities in the region.

The KNDF has pledged to provide regular updates as the situation develops.
