Intense fighting has been going on between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA)-led forces and the military juntaโ€™s forces in Bhamo, Kachin State, and as of December 5, 2024, the KIA and its allies reportedly entered Bhamo and took control of all government offices operated by the military junta.


According to a KIA military source, at least 7 civilians were killed and 10 injured due to the indiscriminate shelling by the junta troops into areas where civilians were trapped inside the town.


KIA forces have captured the juntaโ€™s defensive outposts on the outskirts of Bhamo and continue to launch offensives against key military command centers and other strategic locations.
