The Three Brotherhood Alliance has requested China to intervene and stop the coup army from targeting and killing civilians in northern Shan State, Myanmar, through aerial bombardment. The announcement stated that the international community should act to prevent the coup army from bombing towns, villages, markets, schools, hospitals, and residential buildings. It described these actions as blatant war crimes committed by an army losing the war and also condemn these actions.
The Chinese Embassy in Yangon and the Chinese authorities have not yet responded to the announcement. However, on August 6th, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar issued a warning on the WeChat social networking site, advising Chinese citizens in the vicinity of Lashio City in northern Shan State to move to a safe place.
The Myanmar Institute for Strategy and Policy (ISP-Myanmar) reported on August 5th that there had been more than 2,000 airstrikes before Operation 1027, and at least 3,800 aerial bombardments after towns and military camps were captured by the Three Brotherhood Alliance during the operation.
