Coup leader Min Aung Hlaingโ€™s recent call for ethnic armed groups, including the Arakha Army (AA), Taโ€™ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Kokang National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), to lay down their arms has been sharply criticized by AA spokesperson Khaing Thukha.

In a message delivered on December 15 during the 50th Golden Jubilee of Rakhine State Day, Min Aung Hlaing urged these groups to disarm. Khaing Thukha, however, dismissed the statement, calling it โ€œfrenzied rhetoricโ€ and accusing the coup leader of being โ€œcompletely out of touch with the reality on the groundโ€ and engaging in โ€œa political swindle.โ€

Khaing Thukha further emphasized that Rakhine State Day is a somber occasion for the Rakhine people, marking a history of oppression and inferior treatment under a military-controlled government disguised as a union.

Although the Taโ€™ang and Kokang groups had called for negotiations with the military junta, the Arakha Army continues its military campaigns, focusing on capturing towns in Rakhine State.
