Abul Mohammed al-Jolani, leader of the Syrian armed group โ€œHayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)โ€ and commander-in-chief of the opposition coalition, has announced plans to publish a list of individuals responsible for torturing opposition members and civilians during the Assad regime. Syrian news outlets reported on December 10 that al-Jolani aims to expose officers involved in acts of torture and murder under Assadโ€™s rule.

In his statement, al-Jolani emphasized the coalitionโ€™s efforts to compile detailed information about those implicated in war crimes. He also declared that rewards would be offered to individuals who can provide credible evidence against perpetrators.

Additionally, al-Jolani called for the repatriation of those who fled Syria after being involved in such crimes, urging authorities in foreign countries to facilitate their return for accountability.

A political analyst drew parallels between this initiative and the situation in Myanmar, urging soldiers and non-CDM employees under Myanmarโ€™s military to stand with the people, highlighting Syriaโ€™s example as a lesson in siding with justice and accountability.
