CRPH requests ASEAN member countries not to attend the ASEAN Air Force Conference
On September 6, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) asked ASEAN member countries not to attend the ASEAN Air Force Conference to be held in Nay Pyi Taw under the leadership of the Military Council. The Air Force Conference will be held on September 12,13 in Nay Pyi Taw, which will be attended by the Air Force Chiefs of ASEAN member countries and will be led by the Military Council.
CRPH spokesperson U Sithu Maung said that If they attend this conference, it’s recognizing the military council. "Recognizing a coup d'état without recognizing the elected government and a criminal gang that commits serious human rights violations is interfering with a country's sovereign right to self-determination. It is legal in principle. We want this to be visible, so we urge them to cancel their attendance at this conference." The CRPH pointed out that if ASEAN member countries participate in this conference, as the coup military council is committing war crimes including serious air strikes across the country, it is encouraging the military council's terrorist killings. CRPH said that since the military coup, the military council has killed more than 4,000 civilians and burned more than 80,000 homes,
CRPH has called ASEAN member countries for a complete halt to diplomatic cooperation, including military council, military cooperation, politics, and economy. CRPH also warned that cooperation with the military council could lead to further instability in the region.
