The Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government reported that 33 soldiers and police officers, including a major, defected from the military junta and joined the revolutionary forces in November.

The Ministry confirmed that some of the defectors brought weapons with them. In recognition of their actions, the Ministry awarded monetary compensation based on the type and value of the surrendered weapons. A total of 20 firearms and ammunition were handed over during the defections.

Authorities urged members of the military and police, including those forcibly conscripted under the juntaโ€™s military service orders, to leave the regime and support the people.

Defectors are encouraged to contact the Peopleโ€™s Arms Telegram channel @MyanmarPeople or reach out to the nearest Peopleโ€™s Defence Force (PDF), Peopleโ€™s Defence Organisation (PDO), or allied ethnic revolutionary organizations for assistance.โฉ
