The Myanmar junta launched an airstrike on the densely populated Inn Kyin Taung neighborhood in Kyaukme, Northern Shan State, on the evening of November 30th, dropping a 500-pound bomb. The attack resulted in the deaths of 10 innocent civilians and injuries to 20 others, according to a statement released by the Taโ€™ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

โ€œThe bombed area is a large neighborhood with a high population density. There was no military activity in the area. The attack took place in the evening when people were at home resting,โ€ said a resident of Kyaukme. The airstrike also destroyed nine homes, according to reports.

This attack comes just five days after the TNLA issued a formal statement on November 25th expressing their willingness to engage in discussions to de-escalate tensions. The juntaโ€™s response was to launch a deadly airstrike on Kyaukme, dropping a 500-pound bomb on a civilian population.
