The Chin Brotherhood announced that they have captured military council forces fleeing from Matupi during the operation to seize the town. The joint operation, conducted by the Chin Brotherhood and allied forces, targeted military council bases in Matupi township, Chin State, including the 304th Light Infantry Battalion, the 140th Infantry Battalion, and the Matupi-based Tactical Base, successfully capturing these on June 29.
On July 17, around 120 military council soldiers, their family members, and civil servants who fled during the operation were arrested along with weapons, ammunition, and military equipment. The Chin Brotherhood reported that another group of fleeing military council soldiers and their families was captured on July 25 after a two-hour battle, and they continue to search for the remaining escaped members.
The Chin Brotherhood reported that some captured prisoners of war died due to starvation, a lack of medicine, and serious injuries sustained during the battle.
