Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun said that all sectors have deteriorated after the military coup.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun said at a meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council that all sectors, such as employment including education, have deteriorated since the military dictatorship in Myanmar.

In the general affairs speech program of 2023 Development and forum on financing by United Nations Economic and Social Council, ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations, said that the number of displaced people and the number of unemployed have increased since the military dictionary in Myanmar. The destruction of the education sector has reduced the human resources and unfortunately, it was reported that there is a downward spiral in all sectors.

2. The Permanent Representative of Myanmar discussed the following key points:

(a) The various problems currently occurring in the world in 2030 are challenges that seriously hinders the successful implementation of long-term development goals. The covid-19 epidemic, climate disaster, food and energy crises have pushed up exchange rates, and the ongoing military attack on Ukraine also had a high impact on developing countries and small island developing states.


(b) Urging the international community to increase the use of emergency funds under the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and urging all member countries to encourage and support the UN Secretary General's long-term development goals promotion program.

(c) Myanmar to have a social protection system, Financial inequality and poverty reduction activities. He said that he was committed to fully carry out these challenges including climate change resilience activities and long-term growth and transformation activities. However, all their successful processes have been delayed by the military dictatorship and brutal violence against the people.


(d) Inhuman atrocities have been committed against the people after the myanmar military has seized the power. More than 3422 people were brutally killed. 1.4 million people are displaced. There are about 18 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and about half of the country's population is facing poverty.


(e) the increase in the number of displaced people and the number of unemployed and the destruction of the education sector has reduced human resources, Unfortunately, there is a downward spiral in all sectors.


(f) As a developing country, Myanmar, it is also an important factor using domestic resources for development financing. Myanmar to have a good government, democratic and transparent and accountable government institutions; It is important to create a good environment in all sectors, including strong and sustainable economic development for the country.


(g) In addition, for Myanmar to successfully implement the United Nations long-term development goals, more, he emphasized on the importance of cooperation between developed countries and developing countries (North-South Cooperation), international financing and capacity building and technology transfer activities.
