ABSDF Reports Over 800 Soldiers Lost in 36 Years

The All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) announced that 826 of its soldiers have been killed and 435 injured since its establishment 36 years ago.

Chairman Comrade Than Khe, in a message to the troops, emphasized the ABSDF’s commitment to its founding objectives, including liberating oppressed ethnic groups from military dictatorship, advancing democracy and human rights, achieving domestic peace, and establishing a federal union. He acknowledged the sacrifices made for these political goals.

Than Khe also addressed the nationwide crisis that emerged after the 2021 military takeover, which he said has led to severe deterioration in the economy, education, healthcare, and social conditions across Myanmar.

He commended the new generation of student army members who continue to participate actively in the anti-military revolution and the Spring Revolution, aligning their efforts with the broader movement against military rule.

The ABSDF, he added, remains committed to collaborating with people of all races and ethnicities to build a new democratic federal state.

The All Burma Students’ Democratic Front was founded on November 1, 1988.
