The Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) announced that their forces launched a coordinated attack using 107mm rockets targeting the Southern Command Headquarters and Kaytumadi Air Force Base in Taungoo, Bago Region, on the night of December 11. The attacks reportedly resulted in casualties among the military councilโs troops.
According to an official from BWM, the Southern Command Headquarters was struck by four 107mm rockets at approximately 11:00 p.m., with two successfully hitting their targets and causing explosions. Similarly, five rockets were fired at Kaytumadi Air Force Base, with three striking their targets and detonating.
The Southern Command Headquarters serves as a key military hub for coordinating operations in northern Karen State and adjacent regions. BWM stated that the attack was part of an effort to disrupt command operations and weaken military control in the region. The offensive was also aimed at countering the militaryโs brutal actions against revolutionary forces and civilians.
The assault on Kaytumadi Air Force Base was described as part of a broader strategy to cripple the militaryโs air capabilities.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup Peopleโs Liberation Force (ACPLF), and the Special Area Group of North Thantaung.
Further details on the impact of the strikes, including casualties and damage assessments, remain unverified as of now.
