Thai authorities and the Karen National Union (KNU) announced a joint investigation into the December 13th bombing at the Umphang Festival in Tak province. Reports indicate that one of the suspects involved in the explosion is allegedly a KNU member.

The KNU condemned the attack, expressing deep sympathy for the victims' families and strongly denouncing acts of violence.

During the incident, Thai authorities arrested two young suspects, one of whom was reportedly linked to the KNU, according to local news agency Thaosod.

The explosion claimed four lives and left 48 others injured. A nearby rescue center was established to provide emergency treatment to the wounded, with recovery efforts still underway.

The investigation is ongoing as both parties work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
